Human beings are not perfect, but we all have the potential to grow. What often prevents us from achieving personal and societal goals are not external constraints, but limitations in ourselves. I'm broadly interested in the social and moral tendencies that help us transcend the limitations in the self. Integrating perspectives from developmental, evolutionary, cross-cultural and philosophical psychology, my research focuses on two related directions: our sense of morality and the growth of the self.
